FACULTY OF FISHERIES MANAGEMENT AND ECONOMICS
Background:
The missions of the faculty are to offer education and research on Fisheries business; Fishery techniques and services; Fisheries resources management and exploitation; and Fisheries socioeconomics. The Department also provides consulting services on fisheries resources management and socioeconomics.
Staff:
Currently, the faculty has 11 lecturers and 01 researchers, of which 10 are PhDs (4 Associate Professors, 4 senior lecturers) and 2 are MSc (currently Ph.D. students).
Education:
The faculty offers major subjects of Fisheries exploitation, assessment and management, Planning and fisheries development, Community-based ecosystem approach to fisheries management, Integrated coastal zone management, Quality management in the aquaculture production chain, Traceability of fisheries products, Fisheries economics, Fisheries resources economics, and Marketing of aquatic products for bachelor, master, and doctoral students.
Research:
Major fields of research are Fisheries biology and ecosystem, Fisheries resources assessment and management, Ecosystem-based fisheries management, Fisheries socioeconomics, Fisheries and aquaculture value chain, Market demand for fishery and aquaculture products, and Impacts of climate change on fisheries and aquaculture. The department has established scientific and educational cooperation with international organizations and universities, and effective partnerships at the country and regional levels.
Training and technology transfer:
The faculty offers short training courses on Planning and fisheries development, Data collection and analysis in fisheries, Fish stock assessment and species diversity, Market demand and supply, and value chain of fishery and aquaculture products.
Facilities:
The faculty manages i) The fishery resource analysis laboratory and ii) The fish collection room providing ideal conditions for studying and research.
