Research The department is in a position for major research in biology and pathology of aquatic organisms at the College of Aquaculture and Fisheries. Research over a broad spectrum of biology, pathology, biotechnology and genetics of aquatic animals are being conducted at the department. Major fields of research focus on biology of indigenous aquatic species, epidermiology of significant diseases such as white spot syndrome virus in shrimp and bacterial diseases in Pangasius catfish, prophylactic and therapeutic strategy for emerged diseases in important cultured species. Training The department delivers a number of technical training courses for local participants. These courses include: - Histopathological diagnostic of diseases in aquaculture - Isolation and identification of bacterial pathogen in diseased aquatic specimens - Identification of parasites of cultured aquatic species - Antibiotic sensitivity test and minimal inhibitory concentration of antibiotic on bacterial isolates - Diagnostic of common diseases in shrimp and catfishes |
